Defender Bonnet

Looking for one in the North East. DOES NOT have to be perfect... will be cut up for my buggy. The cheaper the better.

One that is a little messed up (not bad at all) in the scrap pile for free if you come get it before the scrap guy.

A"Bonnet", really?.....it's called a hood man. And you have a grill, not a breakfast, oh yes, and a FENDER, you don't own a plane....well maybe you do, but not your truck.

I mean, I see a fair share of Land Rovers, 99.89% are 90's and 110's.... if I knew that "they" wouldn't put my head in the paint shaker for even saying something like , I might try it for kicks, but unless you were born across the pond,......

anyway, good luck finding your "HAT"

What's the matter Carey - got a bee in your bonnet?

...or ants in your knickers?

Well if he said "hood" then folks might think he's looking for a canvas. Which might then generate all manner of time wasting questions such as full or 3/4, khaki or sand etc...

sorry for the confusion mate, but i don't really need a hood. already have a bit of ALYOUMINIUM buggered to the sticks to keep the drizzle off. i figure your we bit of canvas would just get knackered whilst about greenlaning.

Where did the completely stupid term "breakfast" come from??
I can see bonnet and wing if you are from Europe, but "breakfast"???
That has to be the dumbest thing I ever heard from the Rover world.

I heard one person explain it that folks used to use the grills from Series trucks to cook on. I find this hard to believe considering they were either very very stupid or didn't mind being sick from zinc poisoning.
If you cooked on a Series grill (steel that is galvanized) you would suffer from:

Burning sensation (body)
Metallic taste
Body pain
Shock
No urine output
Collapse
Convulsions
Fever
Chills
Cough
Shortness of breath
Yellow eyes or yellow skin
Rash
Vomiting
Watery or bloody diarrhea
Low blood pressure

Maybe it means something else, I don't know. I do know that if guys inside the shop use that term they have to go sit in the corner for a "time out".

In regards to the hood we have in the scrap pile (the hood being the thing that covers the engine) if you want it I can put it aside, but you'd need to get it pretty soon as I hate clutter.

Bravo.

Lyman, I do apologize for pointing my" gun" in your direction,... I meant what I said, just didn't really intend to direct it " at " you.
I've been trapped in Philly for a few days and when I woke up I think someone pissed in my cheerios.

BUT, I do think all that " wanna be brit" shite is wicked screwed up.

no problem. Philly has that effect on people... i think it's something to do with all the "Brotherly Love" going on down there.

i never was really into the the bonnet and wing either... been a long time since i've been very active on here... i seem to remember this board being more rover term anal in the past and the flaming would have went in the other direction.

in any case, i hope i can work the hood into something that will be Rover recognizable for W.E.ROCK, even though the Unlimited class doesn't require brand recognition.

Thanks Mike, the hood was much better than i hoped for. i picked it up saturday night... holy crap... you sure do have a bunch of 93 110's for rebuild on site. looks like you are going to busy for a while.

took advantage of the nice weather to get some fabbing done. will switch back and forth between the old hood and this one. pretty much got the exact look i was going for. much better forward vision from the driver's seat. i really like how the headlamps peer out. i have a defender grill to cut up, too... not sure if i can make it work, though.

only downside is it's probably not legal for some comps due to it being open on the top.

going to get a wrap next week to match the rest of the current theme on the buggy. probably won't stay with the current wrap for all of next year, though.
