No tire is immune to failures. I've had GY let go on me as well as at least three Michelin failures.

I've had good luck with Both Hankook and Cooper.

I'm not brand loyal by any means. I research several resources before buying and balance out cost and benefit. I'd buy BFG if their prices were more competitive.

The question is shredded at what speed? This could be a fun answer. Glad you survived that incident.

3 digits in a turn on boost. 30 profile 18 inch ZR rated.
Just pushed the clutch and brake pedals in and waited for the spin to stop.

My lucky - and stupid - break was completing a race with threads showing. Succumbed to team peer pressure "keep it on the track..." for the final few laps. Put myself and 120 other yahoos at risk. But we finished 8th!
Falken Azenis RT615k. A cheap yet amazing race tire. Probably 8 out of 10 cars run these.

What is with you with these near death experiences in vehicles? You have angels doing double duty that's for sure...

Nah, all the undocumented and uninsured Cali drivers scoop them up for free. Just wait until the rain season starts in two months when they start hydroplaning into the back of you, then run for the hills. Bet it makes your back tense up in anticipation.
Screw state safety inspections. Why they could be used as a method of culling proof of residency, or insurance, or even a drivers license. So glad I moved out of there.

...... and still looking for a 6x6.
Perhaps we should have a thread that talks about getting WAY OFF TOPIC!

And for Mark, did you contact PortalrovR who made a few for The Expendables and some of those made it stateside? Perhaps there is a contact in there someplace.

Not a Defender but Four Wheeler has an article on a Cummins 4BT Power Wagon 6x6. I can't find the article online but it sounded how they did the rear 2 axles works well.

Could you use any 127/130 and modify the body to work?

Since you have started another thread I'll throw my 2 into the thread jack.

I think with your resources you should be able to use a 130 truck cab and add length to the bed to finish the body work portion of the equation. As far as underneath I would love to see a 4x4x2H set up.

Now this is me oversimplifying, but follow me here:

Add another complete Sals axle with an electric motor on its input flange and an Arduino based control circuit.

parts list:
1. Axle with a welded mount for the motor. I might consider running this axle with the input flange facing backwards if it helps with the packaging. Heck while I'm daydreaming I might just make an integrated nose/ pinion housing that already has the motor in it.
2. Variable speed electric motor, 75 hp should do it (mirite?)
3. Arduino control module. Not sure which one, but something that can govern the electric motor off a wheel speed sensor, or an average of wheel speed sensors plus throttle position.
4. Battery bank
5. BA Alternator
6. Frame extension
7. done, beers

Some pages don't like hotlinking since it uses up their bandwidth, so they'll have the image revert to something completely unrelated if and when it's shared on another site.

ETA: It seems to be an app issue; when viewed through the browser on the phone, it looks fine. It's different when using the app.
