D-90 To Import to Canada

I am looking at ways to bring a D90 over to Canada. I am not an importer so this is not for business. It is however to avoid the high gouging going on over here in resales of American and Imported D's...

I would like something in the following... Diesel, D90, Standard Transmission, years 95 and up, hard top, stn wgn, . Anyone have any knowledge or ideas on this adventure of Aquiring a D90 (or two if it is worth while) and eporting/ importing to Canada? I am assuming that if i physically was there to purchase, and ship it to myself this may be the best way.

So, wanted: Green (favorite color) D90 Diesel, Standard Transmission, are my first preferences, and i dont wish to go any earlier than 1994.

Thank you very much for any imput, suggestions, or offers.

What are you looking to spend. I'm going to be putting my D90 up for sale in the next week or two. It doesn't have a Diesel motor in it but I have access to one with the transmission and all the accesories.

Where do you want to import it from ? UK, US ... How much are you willing to spend and how fast do you need it ?

Brokerage is easy to do yourself, the problem is usually more getting from origin to destination.

To import to canada the vehicle must be 15 years old, it must have been steam cleaned and have a certifacte to prove it. There must be no rust anywhere on the vehicle. A current UK MOT emmissions certificate will also be useful.

i have sold vehicles into canada. since i only live 20 minutes from the border. pretty simple process. i sold my 97 d90 and a friends disco up there in the last few weeks. you will need to leave the title work there for 72hrs, provide a recall letter stating that all recalls have been performed, by a land rover dealer. the recall letters are becoming harder to obtain. you must know the taxes and green levy are not cheap either. i believe the guy i sold my d90 to had to pay out about 4k just in green levy tax! good luck and if i can assist you in any way drop me a line.

If you are looking to Europe for a D90 it must be 15 years or older. I brought over a 300tdi Defender 110 last year from England - it was a 1984 with a newish galv. 300tdi frame and the Rover 300tdi kit installed. I went with a well respected dealer and probably paid a little more but I felt I could put some trust in their assessment of the vehicle - Foley's special vehicles was who I eventually bought from.

Let me know if you have any specific questions. It was a relatively painless process - getting all the right paperwork to the right people being the worst of it.

Rust has nothing to do with it. it is dirt that they care about, if the vehicle or parts, does not look new, they will clean it on the canadian end, no matter what paper work you have, and get ready to pay for that, its not cheap. They move your container to a bonded warehouse where workers unload the entire container and "clean" what they don't like the looks of, its not cheap, they got you over a barrel and they know it. I now of some one who had the container rejected and sent back to England. Just make sure you do everything you can to get it clean on the UK side.
