The latest TD5 spec hinges are pretty damn good ... I've had them in for several years in the north east together with stainless hardware with no deterioration.

The can be sourced as new take off in the UK on the fronts at least for not a lot of money.

I'm using the new td5 hinges as well... They are a direct replacement unless you have a St where you have to slightly grind one on each side. They differ from the old ones in that they have a bushing in them to prevent water egress. Haven't heard of anyone having rust issues with them yet.

You can adjust the door alignment by loosening the hinge bolts.

Does anyone have a photo of the TD5 hinge ground down to accommodate the ST capping?

You don't grind the hinge. You grind the capping. Or, at least, you should.

I looked into that when test fitting a larger set hinges. It would be 3/16-1/4" off the capping. No thanks. Not interesting in repainting the capping.

OK. But I'm assuming the hinges on my 1984 110 are original and they're shot. Will new hinges help or will new require the same amount of alignment? I just got my truck out of the shop and the doors look like shit. The shop says they've done all they can do.

Are they shot? When you lift on the door, does it wiggle from loose hinges?

All you do is loosen the bolts on the bulkhead and adjust up. That said, most bolts are rusted solid. If you do change hinges, make sure you are prepared to deal with bolts that are seized. I suggest just drilling the heads off all the bulkhead bolts and not even trying to loosen them. Replace with all new stainless hardware and TD5 hinges.

Dare I ask which shop is incapable of adjusting a door?
