Budget 90 or 110 Wanted

Hah! I know. A budget 90 or 110. Yeah right!

Well I am on the search for a D90 or 110 and have a budget that sits at or near 20k (of course preferably less ... my wife would say less, go figure). I'm not looking for some garage queen, but rather a rig that my wife, son, and I can throw some surf boards on top and cruise on the beach or I could take on a little baja surf adventure.

I'm not scared of a salvage title, so that is an option.

I would prefer LHD and I would prefer a soft-top with a full safari cage. Of course those are just preferences and I would be open to checking anything out. I am somewhat mechanically inclined, BUT I am certainly not a Land Rover technician so small projects I am all about, but massive engine overhauls or frame swaps are out of my scope of skills (although for the right price I would pay to have any of that done)

SO. That is about it. I would appreciate any help I can get. If anyone wants to sell, or knows of someone wanting to sell I would love to hear about it.

Thank you!

Thanks Nathan! I've actually called that guy. He seems to be elusive as I can't ever get a hold of him.

Defender Found!

Thank you all for all of your help, insight, and suggestions over the past few months. I am so thrilled to say that I have officially found and purchased my first Defender. It's a Coniston Green 90 NAS SW coming to me from Northern California. As soon as the shipping company drops it at my door I will update with photos (and I'm sure begin to fill the 'Technical Questions' section with pleas for advice). Thanks again!

Got my 90 today! I am pumped. Let the repairs begin. The guy backed it off the truck and said the transmission felt "weird" ... Turns out "weird" was an understatement. 1st up, a new transmission, and yet still I can't get the smile off my face.

What feels weird about the transmission ? Might be a simple fix. Congrats on the truck, looks great!

The preferred trans fluid is redline MTL. Could be low or needs to be changed.

It's a common fault to grind between 1st and second. MTL improves it and careful shifting saves having to buy a new gear box.
