Anyone interested in picking up a Tdi 110 from Port Newark ?

I have an import client who's truck has cleared customs but he doesn't want the adventure of picking his truck up. He lives in NYC (Chelsea/ West 19th) and has asked that I find someone to deliver it for him.
The normal transporters don't want the hassle of a short run into the city. The couple of tow flatbed co's I contacted want preposterous $. Looking for suggestions of a reputable tow/rollback co or other ideas.

Isn't that like 15 or 20 miles?

Is it ready to drive?

Almost tempting to do it for small fee plus cost of public transportation.
But I don't have any free time until well into January.

Does the vehicle have a foreign registration, is it insured here, when does it need to be done?

Let me know.

I'm nearby. Neighbor has a service station and a couple of flat beds. Does this guy have tags? Temp registration? Maybe John and I can tag team it (I have your snow cowl John).

Shoot me a PM.

Is ludicrous more or less than preposterous? If it's less than, I can do it.

A few more questions:

-Is this a lickable post?
-Does it have boosts?
-Can my beagle ride inside?

If he wants to pay for my uber/taxi from red bank NJ to Port Newark I can do it on the 30th. I'm heading into this city for work that day and Port Newark is mostly on the way.

Piece of cake, I'll register the truck for him and go pick it up with plates, registration and insurance. It would take only an hour or less at DMV (I will need him to sign affadavit so I can register vehicle on his behalf). Then I'll go to Port Newark and drive it back for him. I'm very familiar with Chelsea area, my daughter works their.

I'm of on Tuesday and Thursday next week.

Should bear mentioning that a TWIC card will be needed of anyone offering to pick it up.

Why? I picked my 110 up 2 weeks ago, they just drove it out of the restricted area to me.

Have no personal experience with Newark but Baltimore and Norfolk require TWIC cards, I assumed all US ports did.

------ Follow up post added December 26th, 2015 10:03 AM ------

There are TWIC escorts available, so that would be a work around.

In Brunswick Georgia they just assigned an escort and you could go in and get your truck .

This terminal does not require a twic. Please refrain from posting assumptions, you didn't appreciate it when others did it in your for sale thread, don't do it to mine. FWIW the Broening Hwy terminal in Baltimore does require a twic but the Childs St terminal does not. Security is handled differently @ ea terminal nationally.

The truck can be driven on the UK plates for 30 days as long as it is insured which the owner can handle with a phone call.

I'm guessing that if the fellow doesn't want to handle the 15 min drive he doesn't want to deal with a trip to dmv either so John's offer might be the best option.

Wow you are quite sensitive, its hardly a for sale thread. You are asking for help with logistics. I shared what I knew about the process as not everyone offering to help would be familiar with port procedures. I have no interest in stealing any clients from you Doug, take it easy.

I can think of atleast one instance of your 'misinformation'. Its a forum, meant to share information and you could have been nice about it. Moderators, please delete my account, I am tired of the unwarranted hostility from some 'senior' members here.
