Anybody in the UK who can help me out?

Looking for a favor from somebody in the UK who has an RS Components account?

I need 4 of these:

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/terminals/7187038/

If I am right then these are the plugs used on Hella 4000 series lights. I have the pins so this is just the plug body.

RS won't let me order them from the US and sends me to their US sister companies site. US side doesn't list them or admit they exist.

If somebody in the UK could order them and ship them over to me that would be great. I will of course send over a PayPal payment for the connectors, shipping and something for your trouble. Just let me know where and how much to send?

Thx in advance.

Ian

Bump. Anybody?

Not sure if you need an RS acount to order off the web, but they won't ship to the US so I can't check.

TIA

If you can get shipped to France I can get them shipped to the US (but you'd have to wait a little to receive them). I might be able to have a UK address but would need to talk to my cousin and see if he'd be willing to forward the package.

Hi Loic,

Appreciate the offer. Not sure if I can pay for them from here with a US based card or if there is the same problem with France as there is with the US? I will see what I can find out.

Itís really annoying for a 1 pound connector to be such a PITA to get but mine are pretty much toast and I really need some new ones.

Anybody know any other source to get these from? Web search is a bust on anything in the US for buying them singularly.

Ian

If you dont need them tomorrow, I may be able to help. I am filling a couple crates in the UK now, and can buy them, and add them in for you. I will have them here in 1-2 weeks. PM me if interested

Well it looks like Greg has me covered (thanks again Greg).

Hi Andy,

Are you sure those are the right type? The pics appear to show a 3 key set up on the 3 pole and the Hellas are a 4 key with an odd spacing. I already tried this once with a connector that looked the same in pics and when I got it the keys where spaced wrongly and it didn't fit.

The ones I have coming I got the spec sheet for from AMP and measured the spacingís, etc. best I could.

I already have the pins and seals from my 1st attempt as they are the same even though the plug was slightly different.

Thx

Ian

Checked, looks like there a 'Knock Sensor' Junior Power Timer keyway type, same series prob a vendor/sensor specific hsg. Typical Hella not to use a 'regular' one.....

Good info for future reference....... would think if anyone is stuck you could trim off the keyways on the male half and use a regular 3 way type. Just have to ensure there orientated correctly for polarity.

Hi Andy,

See pic. On the left is one of my Hella connectors. On the right is the image from Vehicle Wiring's page for the 3 pin connector.

Is that just a stock image? Are the actual connectors the same as the Hellas?

Ian

Edit - Looked like we posted at the same time and came to the same conclusion. I know from when I was trying to find the part # that there are a TON of these connectors, each slightly different. I sat and went through the AMP website parts list looking at spec sheets until I came up with one that the dimensions and shape matched the Hella Connector. THEN comes the problem of finding somewhere to buy it...

Hi Chaps,
I spoke to VWP and they say the hella plug is NOT the same as the junior timer plugs. that is shown in RS and VWP

I'll check some of the suppliers I deal with.
regards
Gren

Hi Eric,

Do you stock just the connector then? I couldn't find them when I looked.

Thx Gren,

I have some of the RS ones on the way. I know itís an AMP plug as its marked. The AMP part # I came up with seemed to match the plug I had based on the on the spec sheet dimensions. Will have to wait and see. I didn't think the VWP ones looked right.

If the ones I have coming don't fit then I may have to hit one of you guys up. Itís annoying as hell. I donít want to buy a full Hella harness as I made my own that includes the headlights. My plugs are old and brittle and the wires are toast. I just want to put new plugs on my new harness...

Thx

Ian

Hi Ian if its just the polarising lugs, 4 on the Hella and 3 on the junior timer then shave the male lugs to allow the plug to fit.

regards all

The ones I have on the way are 4 lug and hopefully the right spacing for the Hellas. The VWP appear to be 3. There are like 50 different types of Junior Timer configurations.

We'll see if these that are coming fit. If not then I will probably shave the lugs off the plugs to make them fit...
