What year Disco1? There were 2 different alternators with different pulley sizes...or alternatively, what is the part number you are looking for? I have a rebuilt alternator for a 1994/1995, I have a rebuildable alternator (bad diode) for a 1996-1999...could have it done fairly quickly.

The alternator is at the rebuilder...they dismantled it and ordered parts last week...should be finished today...am waiting for their call. I took the core in trade. I was told that it came off of a D1, however, I suspect it may actually have come off of a 1997 Range Rover as it is a 120Amp unit. It has the small 7 rib pulley and the mounting feet are the same as a D1, however, it has a larger 8mm output stud. It may necessitate crimping a bigger terminal end onto your charge wire. If you can fabricate a brake line, I expect this would not be much of a problem. The only thing I am not sure about is if the tach will be accurate. The Land Rovers tachometers use an A/C signal off of the alternator to drive the tachometer...am not sure how the signal will match up. I'll email as soon as I get the unit back. You can buy it and try it, and if it doesn't work out, I'll take it back.
Rob

Just got a call from the rebuilder...the front case broke when they tried to press the stator out.
Do you want to try to rebuild your alternator or use the case from it?

Thank you so much. I appreciate it.

I do not have an alternator as of now Rob. A friend locally needed the one (MM) that I had rebuilt so I gave it to him (on the side of the road action). I already returned the Bosch Remanufactured one, so the rover is without an alternator. No worries I can keep it parked for now. Another friend is building a GM alt conversion for me. I can wait. I hate to see this cause issues. Let me know your thoughts or you can email me. Thank you again.
