Allisport

Is there a US reseller of Allisport radiators and intercoolers?

Looking for one of these:

http://www.offroad-trading.com/4wd/i...=128&Itemid=75

and one of these:

http://www.offroad-trading.com/4wd/i...=140&Itemid=75

I have a couple of technical questions, too. I'm trying to figure out if the uprated radiator and the uprated full-width intercooler will fit comfortably in a Defender engine bay.

I tried to have a relationship with Allisport until they turned out to be absolute ass clowns to deal with. Yes I'll say that in public. Great product.....lousy service.

I have some full size intercoolers left over that are about $700. I still have them as you can buy a comparable intercooler for half the money elsewhere. I also have the stage II intercooler (the std size you are looking at) although am not sure why anybody uses it as I can not see any difference once installed (I'm sure Allisport has some sort of dyno sheet to refute this claim. Unfortunately I dont drive a dyno sheet.)......

The full size version that makes a very significant difference, with a little tuning.

Chris.

I am looking into the same thing right now and I have been in contact with both Allisport and Allard. I have decided to go with the extra large Allard radiator and frame as I already own the full width Allard intercooler. It's very high quality and cheaper than Allisport. I can send you pricing. I have measured and the larger radiator should fit no problem. I can also send you photos of my current install. You need to get a new radiator frame for the larger radiator as the filler hole is in a different spot.

Pendy told me years ago that he'd had a similar experience.

Ok, I guess I posted the wrong intercooler link. Indeed, I am looking for the full width version, along with the big Fat Albert radiator. I would consider Allard if they're easier to work.

Carl, I'd love to see the photos and price list if you can send them. My email is my first name period last name at gmail. Thanks.

From Allard:

Intercoolers, radiators, fuel cells, hose sets, piping, etc all are available from Allard Motor Sport.

Radiators for Defender & Discovery 200 & 300 Tdi are complete with new oil cooler element inside as per the original set up, also using the same threads so the original hard oil pipes can be connected with no fuss. Fitting is as per standard, you can use an original (steel) frame or our aluminium replacement (much lighter for race apps). Frame price - 79.00 + VAT
Radiator Price 355.00 + VAT ( No VAT to charge to USA) Shipping costs upon request - (approx 80-80.00)

Combination purchase - Radiator + frame + intercooler we offer a combo price 768.00 + shipping.

From Allisport:

The radiator is 385 excl vat and delivery.

Looks like delivery would be around 98 with UPS.

Andrew at Allisport has been very helpful answering questions. Lloyd Allard (at Allard) as well but takes forever to get a response from.

Very nice. If I wanted to use the stock viscous fan and shroud instead of that electric, do you think it would all fit?

Can you send me a contact over there? I'm ready to order.

Sidebar question: what is up with all the blue hoses? I know that they make the silicone hoses in black but everybody is selling blue.

I don't see why not. I currently have stock viscous and stock radiator with full width Allard intercooler. The only thing different with the Fat Albert radiator is that it is 75MM wider. At least that is what Allisport told me and there is room.

I wish the PO of my 90 had used the Allard one instead of the bastardized thing he put in there that caused me so much pain and heartache!

Yes, Pendys experience with Allisport was much the same as mine.......and were somewhat related. Very disapointing as the owner (Andrew) was a very nice chap and the phone discussions were great. End result was extremely frustrating, costly, and embarassing. Pendy hardly even talks to me anymore.

I have used the full width Allard intercooler with a viscous fan no worries. Also used it with AC in a 90 without using the bumped out grill. Have done the same thing with the thinner intercooler that Pendy designed and Allisport "borrowed" (its 45mm thinner). Turns out that you dont necessarily need the thinner version.

Personally I am not a big fan of the aluminum rads. I have installed two and have had issues with both (cracked mounts in one and cracked tank in the other). I'm a big fan of taking the stock rad and recoring to a full width with an extra row. Bomb proof and a couple hundred $$ less. plenty of cooling.

My intercooler is pretty shot so I was thinking about getting a new one.
I just saw that Allisport is making a double(80%) that fits in the standard location. This would allow the possibility of A/C in the future.
I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this?

Also waiting to hear from allards about their hi capacity ones that cover the rad.

How do these work with an auto trans cooler? Do they leave enough space to fit? Or are most guys running the R380?

This is pretty interesting, but it does seem the guy doing the testing is pretty tight with the guy doing the selling.
