97 ST - Longer rear bench seat belts?

I had a really cool custom subwoofer made that sits in the space behind the rear bench. Unfortunately, the subwoofer now eats up too much slack on seat belt receivers making it impossible to click in. Does anyone know where I can find longer receiver straps or extensions?

Thanks,

Sean

A simple fix is make a hanger strap that lowers the shoulder loop point. And makes it safer for shorter people too. A 3" piece of 1.5" metal with 2 holes in it.

Isn't he talking about the female Y belts behind the bench?

Try JC Whitney:

The female parts are 18" long, almost identical to OEM, and I believe the length of the belts is more than adequate. They were $75 for the pair. With OEM or Jeff's seat belts, it should work...Ill have more information in the coming weeks hopefully.

Also, Jeff, I want those machined parts!

Good point. I was forgetting that it probably pulls the buckle into the seat too much. I think a similar extension there would do it, but you'd likely want that one to be soft (seat belt strap).

Yeah, I had a rear door-mounted subwoofer behind the bench seat that I removed because it would push the belts out of the back of the bench and would just lay them flat across the tub...makeing use of the belts impossible.

Too late now, but I don't know what size speaker you have and the speaker's depth, but chances are the enclosure didn't need to be made as large as it is. Hopefully it's not too heavy either...I ended up just removing my enclosure until I come up with something better.

Thank you both for the advice. Yep, my belts have been pulled out the bench also. This is a good place to start. I'll work on a solution and report back. I hate to remove the box!
