To circle back on the question...why a 97, is it only for the automatic? If so, there are ways around that. Nick at Roverworks makes a set up so you can put in a Classic auto tranny in a defender for a very reasonable price.

The New (to me) Defender came in and my wife has already kidnapped it to take to work!

It's in the 30s here so I'm sure she will freeze her butt off on the way home!
