Need a new front driveshaft for my '97 Defender. She's grounded until the repairs are made and RN is telling me 2-3 weeks. Looking for some love here guys.

Don't they have driveshaft shops in Bloomfield Hills or thereabouts? Props shafts are straight up Dana-Spicer parts, available all throughout this great land. That's flanges, u joints, sliding joints, you name it. I can't imagine that any good shop would charge more than a hundred bux to do any repairs to yours and usually they do it in a day.

Well, you have to take them the drive shaft. That means some quality time under the truck with a couple of 9/16th box wrenches. I would recommend that you order new flange bolts and a full set of 8 nuts from Trevor at Rovahfarm.
To make removal easier, jack up one side on both front and rear axles so that you can freely rotate the prop shaft. You only need to get the tires up off the ground so you needn't jack it way up.
Withe the bolts and nuts out the shaft will come out easily. Toddle it on over to Mr Driveshaft.

Brandon, if you need your truck, you can remove the front shaft, lock your center diff in high and wheel around in rear wheel drive until you either get the shaft from Ron or your's back from the shop.

What he needs to do is get a new shop.

$2k for replacing a drive shaft it's crazy.

Nah, that's actually consistent with a $129,000 used Puma

Too bad he's far.

For $2k, I'll drive up, install one of my GBR drive shafts and give him a spare one too

On a serious note. Buying the Neapco parts it's about $50 and 2 hours of your time.

Did you think I was trying to sell him a heavy duty TW shaft for $80? Because that is what he thought.
