4.6 L Gems engine

Looking for a good 4.6 L gems or 4.0 prefer 4.6. No top hat sleeve please. Looking to replace a 4.6 in my sons disco I. With all the LS conversions I figured some members must be looking to unload an engine. Hopefully someone in CA or close by. Shoot me a pm if you have one with details. If anyone is having Nick do the LS conversion I could pick it up at his house.
Thanks, Eddie

Price is the only thing I can think of since it is seemingly to repair a Disco.

I don't want top hat because I have already had 2 separate 4.6 new rebuilt engines with them slip a sleeve thus looking for a new engine again. So, I am on the fence if I even want to invest anymore into this DI. I have several other friends who have also had a slip sleeve so I am definitely not a fan of them. They are very expensive and not guaranteed it won't fail. Its an expensive risk and I would never do it again.

You had a top hat slip or a resleeved liner slip? I don't see how a top hat liner can go anywhere.

I have one set up with a V belt front cover, gone through, fresh heads, intake that's been ported, cut down trumpets, new water pump etc. "some assembly required". Ultimately it's destined for my RRC, but it's one of 1,000 projects in the queue.

The only symptom with a slipped sleeve is noise. The sleeve doesn't separate coolant from the combustion chamber. The whole idea with a top hat liner is the tit can't move due to the flanged design. I'm guessing you were dealing with a cracked block, not a slipped sleeve.

I have also seen people put a screw in the liner to stop it moving. :-)
