4.0 GEMS Cylinder Heads or 4.0 complete

Looking for rebuilt and/or clean heads for a 4.0 GEMS. I see prices all over the map, from $380 to $540 on Fleabay to $1400 and up at the normal Rover parts shops.

Thats course of action 1. Next is a complete engine swap. I might be interested in a lower mileage/rebuilt 4.0 as well depending on price.

Thanks

I have a good set that have been to the machine shop and tested. They were only on the truck long enough to find out we had a bad liner... I'd sell them for $375 plus shipping

No prob. I have 5 or 6 sets of used heads kicking around if you want a set to rebuild too...

You should just get a set machined, it should be under $450 pretty much anywhere as far as I know. I usually pay about $250 for machine work on cylinder heads. Why not do a 4.6 if you're looking at a rebuilt motor?

The goal is to keep this powertrain alive for another 1.5 to 2 years by dumping as little amount of pesos into it. The oil starvation/ticking/power loss is getting much more prevalent. There are a few nice setups folks have offered but again, minimal outlay for now is preferred. I have a couple weeks around christmas to play with her, would like to transplant whatever during that time period.

In that case you may as well just drive it until it dies. Any money spent on that motor would be a waste if you're just going to be replacing it in the next two years.
