255/85r16 km2

In case anyone has a single 255/85 KM2 with decent tread they don't need. I tore a sidewall this weekend and need to replace it.

just get one from discount tire. if you had bought these from there, you'd get a free replacement with your road hazard certificate. those are invaluable for guys like us.

How good of tread... I've got a few up here. I bought one for $50+shipping with half or less tread that I'd be willing to sell for $50 shipped

I recall asking those guys if off-road use was warranted and they told me no. Double check and read the small print cause I might be mistaken.

Things may have changed, but a few years back I tore a hole in the sidewall of a 35" GY MTR on a rock at about 10 psi. They didn't ask what happened and were happy to install a new one for me.

here's your fine print:
Them - " how did this damage occur?"
you - "I don't know. Replace it bitch, I have a contract"

Kind of a catch 22...

They market and SELL that tire as an off-road tire.
So should they warranty it if damage occurs off-road?
Probably...but I have not read the contract and I would not blatantly lie if they asked me what happened either.
maybe I'm too honest.

yep. I'm not saying lie. that's fraud. but we're talking about the fact that most of us maybe best case are off road 1 day out of 30, or 60? having the certificate to be covered for 95%+ of your driving makes good sense to me. I have exclusively used BFG's since the late 1980's (with one exception), and the only flats I've ever had with them were things like nail punctures that were picked up on pavement.

Most of the time, when you need to claim a road hazard replacement, they don't ask questions anyway.

And if they did ask questions, where I blew the sidewall on that MTR was on a USFS road. I may drive over big rocks at times but I don't drive "off road".

I had the warranty from Discount Tire on my last set of Goodyear DuraTracs.
I specifically asked the guy if offroad damage was covered and he said YES.
600 miles away at Harlan, KY I blew out a sidewall. Drove to Alcoa, TN and they replaced it no questions asked. In fact the guy was SUPER helpful. I called there just about at closing time Friday night and explained the situation. He said he would order that tire right then and there and call me Saturday morning before I drove there. He called me an hour before the store opened to let me know the tire had arrived and I was good to go.

Only peripherally related. Last year I had a loaner while my Benz was in for service. Loaner was a 2012 C250 with the 1.9 liter turbo 4 banger. Had a bit of turbo lag but it was FUN to drive. As always I declined the coverages. Oddly, the pimply kid at the loaner counter felt it necessary to show me where the spare tire was, and have me confirm and acknowledge that there was one. I was thinking, "what the?" Long story short, I backed into a sharp metal curb and gutted the sidewall of the rear tire. I looked up the tire online and they were not cheap. Brought the car back with the doughnut on there and they asked what happened.

"I dunno, something jumped out at me."

I was happy to pay just the $125 flat fee they charge (pun intended) rather than the actual dealer retail cost of replacing that thing. I don't recall but I 'm sure it was at least twice that.

More on topic, tons of nicks and tears in the sides of my KM1s. But no punctures, yet. Guess I'm not trying hard enough.

I've never blown a BFG MT ever. Only slow leaks due to nails. Now, that one time I decide to experiment with Big O MT's...I could stick my fist through that hole. Went back to BFG KM's and the rest is history

Thanks guys. I bought mine used off of a board member, but no complaints here - they have served me well.

Dave, I'm probably just an over achiever in the "abuse your tires" department. They never wear out of tread, just get tore up on the trails. In this case I made a finger sized hole in the sidewall.

I've made Jason an offer since that's probably what I should do - pair my unused spare with his unused spare and retire one of my nasties as the spare. Otherwise I'll take Zack up on his offer as it will likely match mine :D
