2" Receiver Hitch

Looking for a 2" Hitch Receiver similar to the Safari gard hitch pictured below. They are discontinued by SG.

Thanks!

I need one and ROVERX on here needs one too. Could this become a group by or maybe worth while for a fab shop to make a few rather then just one.

Let me talk to Rovertym and see if they would be willing to make a bunch of these, at a super discounted rate, of course!

I talked to a fab guy about making some up last week, maybe 10 or 15 units.

Most likely pricing in the $150 range plus shipping no hardware. But thats just 6 bolts.

I can follow up .

Thanks Ron,

I also sent an email to Rovertym, so we'll see what they have to say.

I have been needing one also, the one rockware makes wont allow for the use of a pintle or dixon bate. Rover connection used to make one but they seem to have fallen off the face of earth...

I just got RN one and I'm very pleased with it. Easy-Easy install, and I can use my pintle hook with it if I want to. Comes with all the hardware, and uses OEM rear crossmember holes.

Does it have provisions to hook up safety chains?

I think you have to butcher your skidplate to fit the RN hitch. Roverhybrids what do you have in mind?

I received a response from Rovertym:

Greg,
We would be interested in building the bumper hitches for you, but we are looking at June-July or so before we can make it happen.
Steve

No offense to "roverhybrids" but I know Rovertym does some really great work, so I wouldn't mind holding out for them. Since they are local to me, I could even pick them up and mail them out as people paid for them. It seems like there is a lot of interest out there for these. It is up to you all though.

Also, if everyone was interested, maybe we could get them to make a customized piece that that has all the features people look for. It may be a "bridge too far" but I just wanted to throw the idea out there.

Thanks greg. I love the idea; especially if we can get a reasonable price going. SG, in my opinion, was too expensive. My only requirements would be 1. greatest amount of clearance possible and 2. a simple rear step that can be attached to the 2" receiver for when i don't need a rear recovery point.

Clay,

Thanks for the input. If everyone else is on board too, maybe I can make a few sketches of the standard hitch and people can comment on them. I don't want to make this too painful, but maybe this could something relatively fun and worth the effort in the end.

It would nice if it could stick out a little, since I run a hitch mounted bike rack.. Please keep us posted maybe some sort of a group purchase could be made, get a deposit.

I don't remember if the bolt patern is the same on a series rear crossmember and a defender, but if it is:

great hitches and reasonable price.
