If you email me a picture, I think we have a 100 Amp one.

That's one of the concerns with my recent 2.8TGV purchase. I'd like a work around for that vacuum pump.

Yes. That would be nice. It would also require a different turbo oil feed line and return since vacuum shares with turbo.

Is 300 tdi a 7pk belt?

Good. Now this alternator is easy to replace regulator. $50 and flat head screwdriver and your good. I have a cracked mounting ear, so no option other than replacement.

Can yours not be rebuilt?

Even a cracked mounting ear could be welded.

I could be wrong, but the last 2.8 I looked had had a blanking plate bolted on where the vacuum pump would normally live on a 300.

But this doesn't mean that there's anything on the camshaft to operate said pump though, so tell me to shut it if need be.

We went to hydroboost brakes and obviated the need for the vacuum pump. . .

I'm thinking maybe i should convert to an electric pump like one below and go with a 300 tdi alternator. Thoughts? Anybody know the amount vacuum needed in Hg for the defender brake booster?

2.8 TGV alternator swap to 300 Tdi alternator

Has anyone replaced the 2.8 TGV alternator with attached brake vacuum pump (85 amps) with a higher performing 300 Tdi alternator (100amps or greater) and AN electric vacuum pump mounted elsewhere? If so please post the part numbers required for the swap and any info on where the parts may be found along with any helpful hints to do the work. Thanks!
