I think Briggs or Roadside Rob mentioned the same thing...I'd like to get a hard opinion on this...

I've got one from a 96 disco 4.0 I would sell you but I cannot confirm it will work on a d90 as I've never owned one. Pm me if interested.
Thanks

Haven't actually done it yet but researched it a bit for the install of a gems into a defender...with the land rover computer you need to go Into market/system settings and disable the security system so it doesn't go into security engine disable. Discos had factory alarm..defenders did not..I think there is a guru on here that can do it for you..not sure what he charges,...clay or Drew..??? Use one but stay clear of the other...lol..

There are at least two different 97 Discovery computers, one for the early trucks without Advanced Evaporative Loss and one for the later trucks with. I think it would need to be an early 97 D1 unit to work in a 97 Defender but not sure.

I can put you in touch with someone that can switch the security on it so it bypasses the immobilisation once you actually do get one.

Bill,

Have you used a Disco 1 ECU with the 97 D90 yet? What's the result? Thanks in advance.

Finding a NAS 97 D90 at a pick n pull? I'm sure when you find one it will have a mint condition console in it too LOL

As a matter of principal I stopped buying parts for resale from salvage yards several years ago, to include u pull it "surprises". The exception might be if I find an aftermarket suspension kit, or cat back exhaust. Now fuckin a right if I found a perfect 97 D90 console in a yard it be coming home with me and reselling on here for 1000% markup, but I am wagering it just ain't out there to be found. Most of the other guys are quick to have the competition drop ship a client an untested part, a fuel pump, a radiator, a driveshaft, a door latch, but not me. Buying shit from a u pull it yard to add to my own inventory would be no different in my eyes. I have a real business to tend to anyhow, no time for all that u pull it nonsense these days.

------ Follow up post added December 5th, 2014 05:25 PM ------

Plus shh don't tell but I have a deal with the local yards anyway regarding Land Rovers, if they had a 90 coming in I would be all over that before they ever checked it in.

I got an SD rack for my DII from a salvage yard for $200. I skipped school (high school) one day and drove four hours to get it.
