Here's a nice shitty one although it's 30% over the high end of your budget.

Land Rover Defender 110 Diesel

Land Rover Defender 110 Diesel - $13000 (Palm Springs)

1984 Land Rover D110 fuel : diesel transmission : manual title status : clean

safety tips
prohibited items
product recalls
avoiding scams
Originally imported in December 2009. VIN SALLDHAC7AA210631

The Good
- mechanically sound 2.5 NA diesel with manual LT77
- Straight Body
- New Rear Crossmember
- 5 XZL's on Steel Wheels
- Good condition Chassis
- Extra Rear Door and a bunch of Spares Included
- New Battery

The Bad
- Doorframes
- Bulkhead could use work
- Interior (needs complete redo, but I do have complete interior with vehicle )
- Dash needs sorting. Wiring halfway works.

I bought this to tool around with in the desert and it has been great for that. I've always kept on top of fluids and maintenance. Diesel Right Hand Drive. Arizona title in hand. Runs, drives and stops but has things to be sorted.

honestly the cost for a vin plate alone is like $3K when you get down to it, do you want a $7k starter?

Looks like it needs a new bulkhead, seats, and door frames, and with those parts in terrible condition, the frame is probably not far behind.

Turns that $13k truck into an $18-19k truck easy.

Body panels look ok. Usual litany of rover promises in ad.

Without looking at it in person, it could easily be a basketcase.

Hey fellas! Yep the guy selling the 110 in Palm Springs is a forum member too. I've chatted with him about it. It's definitely a project, but what isn't at my price point? I'm weighing options at this point.

I was not impressed at the price. They seem to be attempting an import biz.

I'd try contacting them. It is a 8-10k truck IMO. Check autotrader classics in Tampa area, think that is where I last saw it.

maybe something like this ?
Both LHD and in your price range. Green is V8, white is Diesel. Both require some work but not full restorations.

Both still in Europe though. PM me when you are interested.

Thanks guys! You all are awesome. I am flying up to SF next week to look at a pre-smog Series Rover as well as a pretty dialed in pre-smog Land Cruiser. I'll update after I get my eyes on them

Thanks so much Bennett! My brother is up there so it's a good excuse to see him as well. I appreciate the offer!

!

There are several national and local organizations that support those that "go both ways" like yourself. As a matter of fact, there are a few members on this forum that play both sides of the fence if you want to carpool with them to the support group and swinger parties.

Greenbull, you're going next tuesday aren't you? You cheap Toyota dabbling slut.

The rest of us (in majority) are strictly hetero-marque!

Ha! This is awesome. Yeah guilty. It's more a head vs. heart. My heart is all Rover, my practical head is all Cruiser. It's a constant battle.

It's for both. You always say you want one thing then go buy something that still never fits your needs. [wife rant over!]

Wife rant. Ha. I haven't bought anything yet. I just figured while I'm up in an area where there are two trucks I like I might as well take a look at both. I think most anyone would want to do that.

It doesn't matter who rear-ended whom, it's pretty clear what's going on here.
