110 Mesh Grill

Does anyone have the metal mesh grill that goes behind the plastic grill on a 110. Looking for new. Mine looks like crap and I dont feel like dealing with all the rust removal, repaint.

Follow-up Post:

Looks like I am stickinig with the rusty one

Hey, I sprayed mine with rust inhibitor (after a little rub down with steel wool) and then sprayed with Cold Galvanizing Compound. Looks great with little effort.

That make sense. My 90s (all with air) did not have them, but the 110 fans are different.

My 110 didn't have one when I bought it, and I have never seen it on any other defender I have looked at. Was it an accessory item? or maybe most were just removed over the years?

Andrew: It is a stock item. I will shoot you a pic if you like. It is a wire mesh grill that sits behind the stock plastic grill facia. It keeps small fingers from being chopped off by the fan.

Registry
pretty sure its called a "chaff" guard and its purpose is to keep small stuff like seed heads from tall grass from blocking flow to the a/c condensor and radiator.
Supposed to be a stock item on NAS 110's- never seen one on my euro trash girls.

Oh well, the fans that are fitted have cages that are more than sufficient to keep the smallest of fingers out of the blades, so I am not worried about it. Thanks for the info though.

I have a bunch of those. They'd need to be cleaned up and painted, but...

I guess I could clean mine and paint it. It really is low priority at this point. I had to remove the grill to take off the brush bar. If I didn't I wouldnt have given it a second thought. On that note, should I put the bolts back into the bumper where the brush guard was?
