10 Spline

Anybody have a 10 spline true trac front diff, I am still running 10 spline in the front which is all been rebuilt and is tight. But would like LSD, rear has arb locker.

Or I am going about this wrong?

Thanks

Meaning should I go all 24 f&r, I am thinking that the later 10 spline stuff is stronger or equal to 24.
I dont like changing stuff for change sake.

And my total budget for this complete restore plus purchase price is getting close.

If you put a true trac in the front with 10 spline axles is only a matter of time before you shear an axle shaft right at the splines. Been there, done that. Plus your truck will resist when turn corners. The true track like to go straight. Put the ARB in the front and the true trac in the back or better yet a full on Detroit locker in the back. Get some upgraded 24 spline axle in the back first, then in the front if you can afford it. Ditch all your 10 spline junk.

If cost is an issue, I would really just rethink whether you need anything in the front or not. Especially with an air locker in the rear.

Is this going to be a rock crawler? Or do you just want "insurance"?

yes, if you just want a little added no-stuck insurance, then stick a trutrac in there.

I went thru this not to long ago. I purchased a Disco 24 spline axle and then was told the 10 spline front axle was a better choice. I'm slowly rebuilding the 24 spline and will use it as a spare if I break the 10 spline.

The better choice is to get a 24 spline TT. You can get them used fairly easily. If new get an Ashcroft ATB. Then get 24/23 spline shafts and you should be good.

The later 24 spline axles require the CVs to be changed as well so are not a good starting point.
